Totality crosses northern Spain from Galicia through Asturias, La Rioja, Aragón, and Valencia to the Balearic Islands.
Spain is the largest, most populated country on the 2026 eclipse path and will host the majority of the world's eclipse chasers. The umbra makes landfall on the Cantabrian coast, sweeps across the Meseta Central, and exits over the Mediterranean and the Balearic Islands. Totality happens close to sunset, giving a rare 'eclipse-at-the-horizon' spectacle.

Viewing tips for Spain
- →Because the Sun sets almost during the eclipse, high ground with an open western horizon is critical.
- →Coastal or hilltop sites in the Balearics and Valencia will see totality with the darkened Sun near the water.
- →August is peak tourism month — book at least 6–12 months ahead if you want to be inside the path.
